GHC 9-1-1 has implemented enhanced 9-1-1 features as part of Next Generation 9-1-1 to improve emergency response and help first responders better assist you during your life-threatening emergencies.
These features are available within GHC 9-1-1 service area, including Harris and Fort Bend Counties. To learn about availability in your area, please reach out to your local police jurisdiction. Photos, Video, and Live Streaming
A 9-1-1 telecommunicator can now request photos, videos, or even a live stream from 9-1-1 callers to send directly from their wireless phone. This 9-1-1 feature allows responders to assess the situation of your emergency before arriving, potentially saving crucial time. Check with your local jurisdiction to determine if these 9-1-1 features are available in your area.
Medical Information & Emergency Contacts
Medical information and emergency contacts can be shared with 9-1-1 telecommunicators and first responders if sharing is enabled on your wireless phone. Make sure your phone is prepared during a life-threatening emergency following these tips:
- Ensure that your phone's software is updated to the latest version.
- Add and update your medical information and emergency contacts regularly.

- Search and select "Medical ID" in your Settings App.
- Click "Create a Medical ID".
- Fill in all your personal info, vital medical info, and emergency contacts.
- Tap "Done".

- Search and select "Safety & Emergency" in your Settings App.
- Click "Medical Info".
- Fill in all your personal info and vital medical info.
- Tap "Emergency Contact" and add your emergency contacts.

- Enable medical information sharing with 9-1-1 and first responders.
