This new class from PSTC is a class that shares critical skills for call takers, dispatchers, and trainers. PSTC instructors and researchers have taken the time to take an in-depth look at Line of Duty Deaths for Law Enforcement events and ems first responders. Vital lessons learned from a communications perspective will be shared. PSTC shares the most current events and “lessons learned” from around the nation, such as responder ambush events, mentally ill suspects, vehicle pursuits, and many more.

This 8 hour course is essential for bringing awareness to 9-1-1 dispatchers about their role in Homeland Security and how events of 9/11 changed the way public safety does business. Dispatchers will learn what types of threats exist, how to assess information to assist responders and recognize that disaster incidents can quickly overwhelm a PSAP’s operations. Solutions to assist PSAPs in handling disaster incidents will be discussed.
