On January 25, 2013 at 3:15 p.m. the Missouri City Fire Department responded to a reported person in distress up in a tree. The fire responders arrived on location to find an adult female on a ladder approximately 15-20 feet above the ground in distress. The ladder the female was on failed, pinning her feet between the rungs resulting in trapping her up on the ladder. The ladder slipped its footing and was barely contacting the tree limb only being held by the adult female hanging on the tree limb the ladder was on. The fire fighters mitigated the emergency situation which resulted in no injuries to the adult female.
Samantha R White, the four-year old granddaughter of the adult female used her cell phone to call 9-1-1 for emergency responders. The four year old granddaughter was able to calmly and clearly relay information to Missouri City Communications resulting in the safe closure of the incident. She was presented a certificate at the Missouri City Council meeting and was taken for a ride on a fire truck around the block.
